The Opportunity

We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and adaptable Groundskeeper to help maintain multiple private properties and assist with a variety of person day-to-day needs. This role includes year-round indoor and outdoor maintenance, operation of equipment and vehicles, and general property maintenance including but not limited to landscaping, lawn care, and winter maintenance.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Perform regular lawn care and landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, pruning, and bush/tree maintenance
  • Conduct seasonal tasks such as snow removal using snow blowers, loaders, quads with plow attachments, and other related machinery to clear snow and ice from access roads, driveways, and pathways
  • Apply salt or de-icing agents to prevent slippery surfaces
  • Respond promptly to snow events, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Safely operate various equipment and tools including but not limited to: chainsaws, trimmers, loaders, tractors, utility and all terrain vehicles
  • Create and maintain walking paths, clear debris, and ensure all grounds remain safe and well-presented
  • Assist with minor indoor and outdoor repairs or general property upkeep as required
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and repairs as required
  • Help coordinate and provide instruction to summer students
  • Assist with day-to-day tasks and errands
  • Pick up groceries and supplies, and unload and store items as required
  • Transport vehicles, items, or equipment using a truck and trailer (must be able to hitch, tow, and maneuver safely)
  • Safely operate a boat, including docking, fueling, and routine checks
  • Work in various weather conditions including inclement weather
  • Display professionalism, confidentiality, and a positive attitude
  • Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment
  • Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

You Are a Good Fit If You Have

Required:

  • Valid G Class driver’s license
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check (CPIC)
  • Experience towing trailers
  • Valid boating license or willingness to obtain one

Considered an Asset:

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience maintaining equipment

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong physical ability to perform outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability to balance multiple on-the-go projects.
  • Trustworthy, dependable, and comfortable assisting with personal tasks.
  • Strong discretion and the ability to handle sensitive, confidential personal or professional information.
  • Successfully passed comprehensive pre-employment third party testing requirements (Criminal Background Check) and any other requirements.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment required to perform the work (e.g. hand and power tools, etc.).
  • Ability to perform physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and position products (weight up to 50 lbs or 22 kgs) above shoulder height without assistance.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to guide, coordinate, and train summer students or junior workers in job tasks and safe equipment use.
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes and directions as provided.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
