The Opportunity
Pioneer Construction Inc. is seeking hardworking and dependable individuals to join our Asphalt PavingCrew based in the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario area. Our paving teams play a critical role in building and maintaining the roads and infrastructure that connect Northern Ontario communities.

Your Day-to-Day
Equipment Operation
- Operate paving and construction equipment, including pavers, rollers, Dozers, material transfer vehicles, and related machinery, as assigned and qualified
- Safely operate, inspect, and care for tools, equipment, and machinery used in daily operations
- Load, unload, and transfer construction materials using appropriate equipment and methods
Labour & Construction Support
- Mix, pour, spread, and rake asphalt and other construction materials
- Assist equipment operators, pipelayers, and skilled trades as required
- Prepare construction sites by removing hazards and cleaning work areas
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Traffic Control Duties
- Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control signs, barricades, and devices
- Direct and control traffic safely and efficiently through construction zones in accordance with regulations and company procedures
General Duties
- Follow all company, client, and regulatory health and safety policies, procedures, and standards
- Wear and maintain required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
- Adhere to established safety and emergency procedures and report hazards or incidents promptly
- Accurately complete daily logs, timesheets, and work orders as required
- Perform physically demanding work including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, crouching, climbing, crawling, repetitive reaching, and extended periods of standing throughout the workday
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather
- Work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required to meet operational and project demands
- Travel to job sites across Northern Ontario, including occasional out-of-town assignments with overnight stays
- Perform other related duties as assigned
You Are a Good Fit If You Have
Required:
- Valid G class Driver’s License
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
Considered an Asset:
- Prior experience in the construction industry
- Secondary School diploma or equivalent
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to perform physically intensive and strenuous tasks
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and clients
- Ability to adapt to changing job requirements and schedules
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

This position is governed by a collective agreement with Operating Engineers Local 793. The pay range posted reflects base compensation under the applicable agreement. Placement within the range is based on experience, qualifications, and union provisions. Benefits and other incentives are offered separately.
