The Opportunity
Pioneer Construction Inc. is seeking hardworking and dependable Truck Drivers to support our construction operations based in the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario area. This hands-on role involves transporting equipment and materials to job sites across the region and is ideal for drivers who enjoy varied work environments and being part of an active construction team.
Your Day-to-Day
- Safely load, secure, transport, and deliver equipment and materials in accordance with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations and company procedures.
- Assist with loading and unloading of equipment and materials as required.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, complete vehicle inspection reports, and report unsafe conditions and accidents
- Attend daily safety meetings
- Monitor equipment fitness, and ever-changing conditions
- Perform minor repairs to equipment when required
- Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment effectively
- Maintain accurate electronic Hours of Service, vehicle inspection logs, and delivery documentation in compliance with MTO requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Perform physically demanding work including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, crouching, climbing, crawling, repetitive reaching, and extended periods of sitting throughout the workday
- Work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required to meet operational and project demands
- Travel to job sites across Northern Ontario, including occasional out-of-town assignments with overnight stays
- Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Perform other related duties as assigned
You Are a Good Fit If You Have
Required:
- Valid AZ or DZ class driver’s license with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR (preference given to AZ Drivers)
- Minimum of one (1) year experience operating commercial vehicles requiring a DZ license or greater
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
Considered an Asset:
- Prior experience delivering construction equipment, materials, and job site supplies
- Surface Miner Common Core
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledgeable and respectful of the Highway Traffic Act and Municipality by laws and regulations
- Knowledge of loading requirements, techniques, and practices
- Strong attention to detail to ensure work quality and compliance are being appropriately monitored through inspections and observations
- Ability to perform physically intensive and strenuous tasks when required
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and clients
- Ability to adapt to changing job requirements and schedules
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic

This position is governed by a collective agreement with Operating Engineers Local 793. The pay range posted reflects base compensation under the applicable agreement. Placement within the range is based on experience, qualifications, and union provisions. Benefits and other incentives are offered separately.
