Boom Truck Operator (Sault Ste. Marie)

LOCATION:  Sault Ste. Marie,
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:  Full Time

Pioneer Construction is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Boom Truck Operator. This position is in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and is a full-time seasonal position available with competitive wages and a benefits package.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Safely operate boom truck crane to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials.
  • Correctly perform various rigging procedures.
  • Maintain accurate electronic hours of service and vehicle inspection logs in accordance with MTO regulations, and all related delivery paperwork.
  • Ensure safe and timely deliveries and pick-ups of materials.
  • Perform daily pre and post operational inspections and calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting (tarping, strapping, load calculations, etc.).
  • Constantly monitor vehicle fitness, load security, and ever-changing conditions.
  • Identify, report and correct hazards.
  • Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment.
  • Team player and display professionalism toward our company and customers.
  • Physical work including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, crouching, climbing, crawling and reaching repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment.
  • Work schedule including evenings and weekends when required.
  • Travel to various job sites including out of town with overnight stays when required.
  • Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Valid AZ / DZ license with a clean driver’s abstract is required (preference will be given to AZ Drivers).
  • Minimum 1 year AZ / DZ driving experience.
  • 0-15 Ton Ticket is required.
  • Certified 339C Hoisting Engineer is considered an asset.
  • Surface Miner Common Core is considered an asset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable and respectful of the Highway Traffic Act and municipality by laws.
  • Familiar with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Including the ability to take direction from supervisors.
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a cheerful outlook and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
