Equipment Operator (Kenora)

LOCATION:  Kenora,
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:  Full Time

Pioneer Construction is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Equipment Operator in the Kenora, Ontario area. This is a full-time seasonal position available with an extensive benefits package, suitable for someone looking to explore a rewarding career in the construction industry.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Safely operate heavy equipment, with knowledge of loading requirements.
  • Preform mandatory daily pre-op and post-op inspections on equipment and attend daily safety meetings.
  • Complete daily inspections and reporting of production.
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment when required.
  • Identify, report and correct hazards.
  • Physical work including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, crouching, climbing, crawling and reaching repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks.
  • Constantly monitor equipment fitness, and ever-changing conditions.
  • Perform minor repairs to equipment when required.
  • Maintain accurate electronic hours of service logs and vehicle inspection logs.
  • Travel to job sites with overnight stays when required.
  • Display professionalism toward our company and customers.
  • Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment.
  • Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Valid G Class Driver’s License.
  • High school diploma is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience operating heavy equipment.
  • Surface Miner common Core is considered an asset.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiar with aspects of maintenance of crushing equipment.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment required to perform the work (e.g. hand and power tools, etc.)
  • Ability to do physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
