Grade Supervisor (Kenora)

LOCATION:  Kenora,
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:  Full Time

Pioneer Construction is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Grade Foreperson / Supervisor in the Kenora, Ontario area. The Grade Foreperson / Supervisor is a field position which requires directing and monitoring grading crews on various projects. This is a full-time permanent position with competitive wages and a benefits package.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide supervision and direction to crew to meet quality and production standards
  • Coordinate equipment, labour and trucking with the Superintendent.
  • Review contract drawings and plans to ensure specifications are followed
  • Adhere to project deadlines.
  • Operate equipment as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and guidelines.
  • Monitor equipment and ensure they are all maintained properly and in working condition.
  • Complete daily supervisor diary and time sheets.
  • Provide training and guidance to grading crew and maintain a high standard of productivity and quality.
  • Reinforce compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, etc.
  • Work shifts include days, evenings, nights, and weekends when required.
  • Travel to various job sites including overnight stays when required.
  • Work in inclement weather conditions.
  • Display professionalism toward our company and customers.
  • Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment.
  • Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Valid G Class Driver’s License is required.
  • Minimum 3 Years’ experience in the construction industry.
  • High School Diploma is considered an asset.
  • Experience operating equipment is considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in supervisory or management roles is considered an asset.
  • Experience in and knowledge of pits and quarries is considered an asset.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints and scopes of work.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment required to perform the work (e.g. hand and power tools, etc.)
  • Ability to do physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
