Scale House Operator/Dispatcher

Pioneer Construction is looking for hard-working, self-motivated employees with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Scale House Operator/Dispatcher in the Sault St. Marie area. The Scale House Operator is responsible for day-to-day administration of the scale house. The Scale House Operator will manage in-bound and outbound traffic by conducting the reading of weights and inputting the necessary data accurately and efficiently into the necessary software programs. This is a full-time seasonal position (usually May thru December) with competitive wages and a benefits package.

 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate all activities for pit site operation scale house.
  • Conduct readings of incoming and outgoing truck weights and enter data into various software programs.
  • Administer and input data into the scaling system.
  • Receive trucks and communicate needs with drivers and others onsite.
  • Provide truck drivers with tickets and any other administration required for their records.
  • Organize, code, and send tickets and information back to the accounting team.
  • Maintain a log of both inbound and outbound trucks.
  • Process and prepare daily pick-up orders.
  • Order and receive supplies as needed.
  • Provide clear directions to truck drivers and other guests.
  • Perform additional administration duties to support daily operations including the preparation of various documents.
  • Display professionalism toward our company and customers
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, etc.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Valid G Driver’s License
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is considered an asset
  • Experience working on a site or in a pit would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of pit operations, aggregates and trucking would be considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Ability to work in a loud and busy environment
  • Ability to sit/stand for long periods of time
  • Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organization, efficiency and multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize are key to this role.
  • Flexible working schedule which may include overtime hours and weekends, coupled with dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work long hours Including weekends at times
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
