Welder (Sudbury)

LOCATION:  Sudbury, Ontario
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:  Full Time

Pioneer Construction is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated employee with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Welder in the Greater Sudbury Area. This is a full-time year-round position that comes with competitive wages, benefits and a pension.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Precision welding operations
  • Disassembly/Assessment/Repair
  • Proper use of preheat and post-heat
  • Base metal identification
  • Determination of optimal tooling
  • Selection of manual or semi-automatic welding, sub arc and burning tools
  • Selection of optimal welding amp and welding procedures and data sheets
  • Set-up requirements may include jig or fixture design and fabrication and development of set-up documentation
  • Reading blueprints
  • Measuring
  • Display professionalism toward our company and customers
  • Must maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment
  • Abide by all Company policies including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental, Human Resources policies
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor

 JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 Education:

  • 3-5 years of welding experience in a shop setting through on-the-job training or recognized welding training
  • Secondary school graduate with grade 12 mathematics
  • Valid G Drivers License

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of our customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure, in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Ability to lift in accordance with OHSA requirements (25-50lbs)
